Fasting doesn’t have to mean oily, heavy, or boring food. With a little creativity, we can prepare Vrat special recipe light, nutritious, and energy-packed recipes that keep us satisfied and energetic throughout the day.
Today, I’m sharing a unique and healthy Vrat special recipe – Sabudana & Makhana Energy Bites. These bite-sized delights are no-fry, super tasty, and can be prepared in just 15 minutes. Perfect for Navratri, Ekadashi, or any fasting day when you want something wholesome yet easy.
Ingredients (for 10–12 bites)

½ cup soaked sabudana (sago pearls, drained well)

1 cup roasted makhana (fox nuts, coarsely powdered)

2 tbsp roasted peanuts (crushed)

2 boiled potatoes (grated)

2 tbsp fresh coconut (grated)

1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)

1 tbsp ghee
-
½ tsp sendha namak (rock salt)

½ tsp roasted cumin powder

½ lemon juice
-
Few chopped coriander leaves
Method

Roast makhana until crisp and grind into a coarse powder.

Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan, add soaked sabudana, and sauté for 3–4 minutes until pearls turn transparent.

In a bowl, mix grated potato, roasted sabudana, makhana powder, peanuts, coconut, and spices.

Add lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix everything well.

Shape the mixture into small bite-sized ladoos or tikkis.

(Optional) Roast lightly on a non-stick pan with a drop of ghee for a crunchy layer.
